Craft Tagging

Scooter in his very Mr Productive persona has created his very own Craft Meme, in which I have been tagged. Unlike the running game of tag, why can't there be a safe spot where you can go and hide from being tagged, although this is a good one! I highly recommend that all my readers head over to Scooters and read his meme answers, he's rather crafty! :)

Craft Meme - pass it along to anyone you know who has ever crafted, attempted to craft, or been the victim of a drive by crafting.

Do you knit?
Yes

Do you sew?
No designer pieces but I can sew on a button, repair a tear and own a sewing machine.

Don't look it up. Don't. Look. It. Up. If you're reading this on someone Else's blog, do this part mentally before continuing on. Define the following terms, and when you're done, put the answers at the very bottom of this meme: tatting, flocking, kerf and selvedge - make up a definition if you don't know. At this location (with a link) add a crafting term you think is uncommon, but which you know, to the list for others to define.See end of post

What's your favorite craft store?
Any Asian run knick knack store as they have the best bit's and pieces for rock bottom dirt cheap prices. I also love many an online craft store, ebay ranks quite high.

Do you have a crafting hobby that is not knitting or sewing (what)?
Beading, Baking, Kid craft(the kind that amuse playgroupers and cover my fridge) & Digital scrapbooking

Have you ever latch hooked anything? Is it still on display somewhere?
Yes. A floor rug of geometric design and ultra bright colours that is at my bedside so my toes curl up in it as I wake for my day.

Doll crafting. Why do they do it?
Too mimic themselves in porcelain, without wrinkles, stretch marks, permanent smiles and bright eyes.

What was your favorite craft hobby as a child?
Building sandcastles, I was going to be one of those people on Manly beach making building sized sand sculptors for all to admire and then to run and leap on.

Do you admit to crafting, or do you call it something else (like DIY)?
Absolutely! I prefer to give each craft it's appropriate title, ie I DigiScrap and I Wire Bead jewellery etc...

List everything you've tried from a crafting perspective:
Digital scrapbooking. Knitting. Beading. Crochet. Quilting. Sewing. Baking. Painting & Drawing. Paper Mache. Home Brew. Stencilling. Leather work. Sand Sculptures. Clay Modeling. Model Planes. Model Trains. Soap making. Candle Making. Weaving. Cooper embossing (Dad still has it!). Kite Building. Paper planes. If it can be made cheaper then it costs to buy, I've tried it!

Ever been injured while crafting?
Yes - Needles pricks on finger tips.

Has anything you've crafted been displayed at a state fair, regional fair, county fair, 4-H meeting, or similar event?
At school art fair - it was a A lead pencil drawn 12 metre mural under the banner "For every beginning there is an end" (I wonder where that is now...)

Have you ever worn anything you bought at a crafting fair? (or anything someone bought you at a crafting fair)?
Yes - Beaded jewellery.

What's the most interesting thing you've ever crafted?
Not that interesting, but highly loved my knitted Baa Baa Black Sheep

Have you ever sold your crafts?
No.

Have you given your crafts to others?
Yes, beaded jewellery to family and friends. Printed Digital scraps to my mother. Oh the copper embossed artwork for my dad when I was 9yr old.

If you could instantly gain a crafting ability what would it be?
The ability to lead light. I have always dreamed of being able to do this but financially I've just never got around to it.

And what would you make?
Amazing designer pieces like this that bring out the beauty of light through colour

For whom?
Me, anyone.

Do you have a relative who has crafted something that's considered a family (or personal) treasure?
Not something passed down from generation to generation but my grandmother had embroided and appliqued a skirt with little girls on it. It's beautiful and I wanted to pass it onto my daughter, but I didn't have one, so I shall cherish it until maybe I have a grand daughter. I really should take a photo of it.

Before you look, how many pictures do you suspect are listed by Google related to the craft of sock monkeys?
What the hell is a sock monkey? I will have to look it up, maybe 60? Is it like a sock puppet?

Explain your personal, presumably ad hoc, opinion about people who virtually craft in virtual
worlds (like World of Warcraft)? Is it crafting?

No. Unless it's hands on and you end up with something you can show off and say "hey, check it out, look what I MADE" then it's not craft.

You're trapped in Bill Murray's Groundhog Day. What crafting skill would you refuse to learn despite having infinite time to learn it?
Decoupage - glue and I are not friends.

I completely under you dislike to scraping Scooter, I hated it too till I started. It is obviously still not publicly accepted as it always comes up as a spelling error on spell checks and if a word makes it pass those spell checkers then it has to be a REAL thing, IMHO. I think I have more of a passion for Adobe Photoshop - but is that a craft?

Definitions:
tatting - that sound that you make when your craft is not working out the way you want. "tat tat"

flocking - When you get a craft idea after seeing a flock of birds

kerf - a smaller then normal hanKERFchief

selvedge - the end of ones sleeves.

wigjig - A device used to make wigs.

I think Photoshop can be viewed as a craft. It certainly feels like one when you try to start doing it from scratch.

You have certainly dabbled in a lot of crafting.
