R.I.P goldfish enter the spider?

With very sad news I have to share that our last goldfish died on Friday and as I was cleaning out the tank, Big Little announces that we should get a new pet - a spider! Big Little Man seems to be obsessed with spiders at the moment, all his school work has stories about spiders and pictures of them too. At a recent fun night at Little Man's pre-school they got there face painted:

Red Backs of all spiders! As spring has sprung our back yard with every nook and cranny seems to have a Red Back living there, sensibly Big Little Man agreed that a Red Back wouldn't make a good pet as it so small (the venomous part doesn't seem to bother him) and when he was head first in the garden yesterday he told me he was looking for a Funnel web - help me! He really wants a Tarantula:

I've tried explaining that Tarantula's do not live in Australia (and we have enough scary spiders) and that they are US citizens but my well informed son knows that we can fly to the US so it should not be problem in obtaining one.

Hmmm

To Big Little Man From Mum - NO WAY BUDDY!

New Car!

Whoo Hoo, can't recall when we started the process to get the new car, have to find that blog, but we finally got it!

I embarrassed myself at the dealers as I bunny hopped and stalled the car upon leaving (touchy clutch, not my driving abilities!) but it's a super cute car, with loads of space and can't wait to get my bike rake installed so I can take my bike to the next holiday!

Here is an after blog of the much promised picture of the toothless gap of Big Little Man:

Little Man Little Athlete

Unlike his brother he really gets in there and give each even a go, he makes me so proud I can't wipe the smile off my face. Big Little Man also managed 500m this week, but I had to hide or he would have stopped if he saw me on the side lines.
This is a photo of him in the 50m. (He is the runner taking off on the left)

After athletic we headed to the school fete, where we ate rubbish and the kids went on little rides that made them feel sick.

The tooth fairy visit

This is an actual photo of Big Little man's Big Little tooth.

After reading this book Big Little Man decides the wobbly tooth must come out so he can receive financial rewards from the tooth fairy.

He proceeds to eat apples, chew on carrots and even had a go at the dog bone.

Thankfully Deaf Dog was happy to share

The said tooth was loose enough for mama to indirectly extract it (pull out with force with much shock from Big Little Man - he asked me to do it I swear!) After swabbing the bloody mess in his mouth he was very impressed with his new toothy gap (photo awaiting) and we carefully wrapped up the first baby tooth and carefully placed it under his pillow where fantasy came to life and replaced his tooth with $4.

Big Little man gave me his $4 and begged me to buy him:

I told him that the Tooth Fairy didn't leave him enough for the Bionicle and he explained "of course not, she only has tiny wings and $4 would have been very hard for her to carry anyway" so it seems it is my job (as I caused him so much pain in the extraction process) to cover the cost. So be it, I shall wear the cost of this Bionicle but listen up tooth fairy, with the next tooth, bring your back pack with at least $15!

Kids grow so fast!

Today I was reading PooTeeWheet's blog and agreed with her that our kids grow so fast and like a reality check, Big Little Man comes home from school and tells me that there has been something stuck in his mouth all day and could I get it out, well what do you know, my Big Little man is getting his very first Big Boy tooth. He is so excited but wants to know why his baby teeth have not fallen out yet and how long will he have to have 2 rows of teeth. I fear that he will have to get them extracted if he is anything like his mum.

Oh I recall the day I had to go to the dentist as several of my mature teeth had come at once and my baby teeth had no intentions of going anywhere, it was the dentist's job to extract 6 teeth so that my new teeth could take there rightful place in my jaw. I don't think Big Little man is ready to hear that yet and as the new tooth is just crowning (that image is not his) so it may force the baby teeth to loosen and fall out on their own, if not it's time to see the dentist.

Oh they grow so quickly.

6 year olds! Arrrrr

Little Athletics was a disaster this morning. Big Little man refused to participate because - wait for it - the canteen was closed!

Little Man was a real champ and even ran the 300m without me having to push or drag him along, he loved the Long Jump and throws a mean discus and only complained about the starters gun, which I agree is a really "big bang".

Till next week.
